I must start writing this blog faithfully. It is now or never. I want this to helpful, informative and instructional. And I have a plan now. I enjoy talking with many of our parents on the phone but writing is more of a challenge for me. Especially when I keep getting interrupted (it has happened twice in during last paragraphJ ).<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

            My husband and I have always known that home schooling our children was best – for them and for our family as a whole. Whatever your reason for home schooling, I hope you will keep in mind how much this can influence their lives. We have four children. Three of them have graduated, so I only have one left and he is a senior this year. I keep thinking how fast the time has flown. It seems like I just taught him how to read and now he is almost finished with high school. We are having many conversations about college. My point is that time moves quickly – use it wisely to influence your children.

            I know home schooling is not the easiest option but it does bring many rewards. You will know your children better and be able to guide them through life. It will bring the whole family closer together. They will be well rounded as children, teens and adults. Now, go enjoy your children!

Teaching our Children Character

<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

This is the time of year when mothers are planning for the next year. Evaluating what they did with their children last year and questioning, if they are doing enough or too much. (We are so good at doubting ourselves. One thing I have learned thru the years – trust your heart.)

These are good to consider and these things should be looked at and thought through. Do they see these traits in our daily lives? Do they see these in the things that we get involved with? Some of you are going through very tough times – do your kids see that you have peace and faith? When something is not going the way we think it should – do they see gentleness in us? Do they see a love for all kinds of people on our lives? Whether these activities are church related, politically related, school related – what kind of example are we being?

We just returned from taking the teenagers from our church to camp. Twelve hours up, and five days later, twelve hours back – some on very windy roads. They ranged in age from 13 – 17 but they all got along with each other. Some of the older ones showed patience and some of the younger ones showed meekness in just doing what they were told to do by the older ones. One of our girls got very car sick on the way up – we had to pull over – but all the kids were very gentle, very good to her – putting her needs before their own.

I am sure there are other character traits that we could talk about but these are the ones that are found in Galatians that Paul says we should have evident in our lives. How are you doing?

Here is a joke that you can share with your kids. It was told quite a few times during the ride to camp.

  “Have you heard the one about the pencil?
